- Current Peer Recovery Specialist certification (CPRS) in Virginia, with accompanying completion of 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) training course as recognized by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).
- Current Registered Peer Recovery Specialist (RPRS) status with Virginia DHP Board of Counseling, or completion of registration within 90 days of hire.
- 5 continuous years in recovery from prior substance use disorder(s).
- Mental Health First Aid certification (can be obtained following employment).

Central Virginia Health Services, Inc. is seeking an exceptional Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) to provide experiential support to patients recovering from substance use disorders.The PRS will act as an important member of the interdisciplinary team at CVHS - Petersburg Recovery Center, a Preferred Office-Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) site.
Responsibilities of the position include participating in and leading treatment groups, improving engagement through regular patient check-ins, providing on-call support to patients, offering case management assistance as needed, and working closely with other members of the treatment team to improve patient outcomes.
