Be A Summer Band Coach At NYC Guitar School

NYC Guitar School is one of America's largest music schools with 3,000 students and 50 teachers, including campers in NYC's longest running rock music day camp.

Students love our camp because they make friends, learn new skills, make music and play a great show. But our ultimate mission is not teaching music.

Our mission is "Coaching Personal Greatness One Lesson At A Time" and we know that our summer program is successful when our campers grow in confidence, skill and musical and social resilience.

Most of our summer coaches are continuing NYCGS teachers, however we have limited openings for full summer in-person band coaches who are new to our school.

Ideal applicants will have experience playing in, leading, or coaching bands, as well as experience teaching, working with kids, being a camp counselor, etc., and will have a degree in music or education or other related field or will be actively engaged in studying or working in these fields.

This is also a good opportunity to get to know our school (and for us to get to know you) for regular teaching opportunities.

(Many of our regular teachers began with us as summer camp teachers)

Camp

Schedule:
M-F July 8th through Aug 16th

Session One (10 days): July 8 (Mon) - July 19 (Fri)

Session Two (10 days):
July 22 (Mon) - Aug 2 (Fri)

Session Three (10 days):
Aug 5 (Mon) - Aug 16 (Fri)

Daily Teacher and Staff

Schedule:

• Teens 9:453pm_ (except first Monday of each session begins at 9:15am and last Friday of each session (show day) ends at 5:30pm) One hour for lunch from 12
• Kids 9:153pm_ (except first Monday of each session begins at 8:45am and last Friday of each session (show day) ends at 5:30pm) One halfhour for lunch time TBA.
• Booster Lessons: _Potential booster lessons take place before and after camp and are paid separately.

Bands meet in Midtown Manhattan on West 40th Street


Pay-rates 2024:

- _Summer Camp Coach $1,225/10-day session (Teens 12-14 and Teens 15-17)_
- _Summer Camp Coach $1,500/10-day session (Kids 8-11)_
- _Booster/Lessons: bonus of $120/10-day session for 8 30-minute booster lessons_
- _$100 bonus for in-person pre-camp Summer Training_
