A 15+ person laboratory is seeking an experienced laboratory professional to manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including meticulous record-keeping of inventories and budgets, organizing and maintaining laboratory equipment, overseeing aquatic animal systems and animal care/laboratory safety, ordering of scientific/office supplies, and basic experimentation.
Responsibilities:
- Management of IACUC/IBC protocols ensuring reporting, updating and compliance at all levels.
- Onboarding of new staff, general human resource tasks, and procurement as liaison between laboratory and department.
- Performing basic molecular biology, embryology, and/or microscopy experiments.
- Working with PI and department staff regarding NIH grant annual progress reports and budgeting.
- Overseeing aquatic animal system including animal care, system maintenance, compliance regarding IACUC and laboratory safety.
- Work closely with PI, but also independently, as projects require.
- Attend all laboratory meetings.
Bachelor of Science (or Bachelor of Arts with a strong science focus). At least 2 years experience in an academic research setting. Exceptional organizational skills. Superior verbal and written communication skills. Enthusiasm to learn new techniques and skills.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years' experience in an academic research setting. Experience working with aquatic model organisms. Grants management skills. UT Austin experience.
Salary Range
$48,0000+ depending on qualifications
