DUTIES AND

REQUIREMENTS:

Provides professional safety support for the County of Will. Coordinates, performs, and implements fire and life safety compliance activities (i.e. fire and life safety policies and procedures, educational training, environmental round, emergency response activities, reporting and documentation reviews, etc.) Complies with and monitors compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Serves as the Fire and Life Safety Specialist for Facilities by developing, coordinating, monitoring, and maintaining the Life Safety/Fire Prevention Programs.

Scheduling and evaluating fire drill performance, conducting fire drills, evaluating facility construction plans to identify safety concerns, and invoking interim life safety measures whenever features of life safety are compromised.

Investigates, coordinates all non-compliant fire and life safety issues within the County of Will Facilities and designated offsite locations. Continuously monitors the environment and initiates reporting and corrective action for identified life safety deficiencies. Investigate and correct fire hazards, assisting department director with any necessary follow-up required by a regulatory agency. Develop, maintain, and manage all safety teams volunteers in each building.

Designs and conducts continuing education/training sessions for employees to maximize their safety and provide a safe environment for visitors and staff.


Bachelor's degree in public safety, fire administration, public administration or construction trades preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

1-2 years of previous job-related experience required. 3-5 years of previous job-related experience preferred. Valid State of Illinois Driver's License and minimum liability insurance as required by law.
