The Social Work Clinician demonstrates a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of complex patients and their responses to actual or potential health problems.

Assist the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. To provide direction, education, leadership and accountability for program development, implementation and evaluation in area of responsibility.

Includes professional development and empowerment of staff as well as management of resources to promote desired outcomes with attention to quality, efficiency and cost.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current Social Work licensure in Virginia (LCSW preferred or LMSW)

Current Social Work licensure in Virginia (LCSW preferred or LMSW) Experience


REQUIRED:
Minimum of five (5) years social work experience
Experience


PREFERRED:
Minimum of one (1) year experience in the practice setting. Experience in staff education and professional development (orientation, preceptorship or field instructor, in-services education, etc.) Academic health care experience.

Education/training


REQUIRED:
Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program Education/training


PREFERRED:

Doctorate Degree in Clinical Social Work from an accredited program Certification in specialty area Independent action(s) required: Has full authority and accountability for direction and leadership of program planning, guideline development, setting of practice standards within the confines of organizations/divisions/units mission, goals and objectives.

Manages human, fiscal and other resources to ensure quality programs/processes/services with measurable positive outcomes.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Negotiable with immediate supervisor in collaboration with the Social Work Manager

Will generally work day shift, but requires flexibility for special projects or to meet organization and staff needs Age Specific groups served: All ages are included and based on unit specific assignment.

This clinician role is a leadership position within Care Coordination focused on onboarding, orientation, annual competencies, and ongoing educational needs of the outpatient social work team.

This clinician role will support team members working in both adults and pediatrics for transplant, oncology, dialysis, primary care and medicine specialties including substance use.

This team member will work closely with Care Coordination leadership, including inpatient, emergency room and post-acute, to support the needs of the front line staff across the service line.

Additionally, this team member will be expected to maintain a small caseload of therapy clients.


This position is expected to be onsite for collaboration with staff at VCU Health Main Campus downtown as well as off site locations.

Normal business hours, Mon-Fri, with no expectation of on-call or weekends. Major holidays off with use of PTO due to clinics closed.
