The Scowcroft Strategy Initiative (SSI), housed within the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, serves to directly advance the Scowcroft Center's core mission by developing sustainable, nonpartisan strategies to address the most important security challenges facing the United States and its allies and partners.

Its competencies in long-range foresight, strategy development, and resilience are vital assets to government and business leaders as they navigate a complex and unpredictable world.


Working with SSI provides an opportunity to participate in discussions with leading strategists, government officials, and cutting-edge thinkers in public and private forums.

Young Global Professionals (YGPs) play a vital role in helping to execute the initiative's programming, including its quarterly Strategy Consortium, annual _Global Foresight _report, convenings of officials from leading democratic allies, and engagements focused on advancing national security resilience.

YGPs will also contribute to the editing and publishing of issue briefs and reports, as well as provide administrative and communications support to the team.


This role is based at our Washington, DC headquarters on a hybrid schedule at a rate of $17.50 per hour.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct research to support the activities of the Director and program staff.
  • Provide logĂ­stical support in organizing and executing public events and private, highlevel roundtables.
  • Draft correspondence and take notes at roundtables and strategy sessions for program archives.
  • Assist with drafting and editing SSI publications, including issue briefs and _Atlantic Council Strategy Papers_.
  • Support the SSI team with external communications.
  • Provide support for SSI team administrative operations.
  • Must be at least a college junior in good standing, a graduate student, or a recent graduate, preferably majoring in Political Science, International Relations, History, Communications, or a related degree.
  • Must have at least a 3.3 GPA (out of 4.0) scale, or equivalent from a nonU.S. institution.
  • Applicants must be able to work up to 40 hours per week.
  • Must demonstrate a proven interest in international affairs and security.
  • Must work well with others in a fluid environment and interact professionally with senior figures.
  • Past experience in project management is highly desired.
  • Past communications, graphic design, and/or social media brand development experience is a plus.
