- _Practices hospitality_. You make people feel like you're on their side, especially when something goes wrong. You don't get defensive. And you never raise your voice. When you disagree, you do so respectfully. This applies to teammates, vendors, and customers alike. You make everyone feel like they _belong_ as a member of our company.
- _Is a player/coach_. You're a supervisor who also works. You teach your crew what good work looks like, and they emulate you.
- _Is technically proficient_. You have deep, perhaps decades-long knowledge of homes such that you can diagnose and solve any problem; and you know who to call if you can't solve the problem yourself.
- _Is a great, calm communicator._ We deal with lots of stressful situations—we often get calls when water is coming into our members' homes or when a storm just hit. People call us because we always put things in perspective and offer a path forward—we actively turn down the stress in stressful situations. No matter how dire the circumstances, we put others at ease.
- _Has no ego._ You'll always take service calls yourself, and we expect the same out of every one of our employees (to include the CEO). Because you don't have an ego, you're also very flexible day-to-day. If a member needs something and you're available, you respond to the call without complaint.
- _Takes pride in doing the right thing when nobody's looking_. You're the sort of person who sees a piece of trash on the floor at a worksite and picks it up. You never, ever cut corners.
- _Makes things happen because you're a part of the community._ You're the sort of person who just pulls solutions out of his hat. In this job, it usually means that you've developed a great relationship with our network of subcontractors, and they're willing to pick up the phone for you on the first ring. When there's a crisis in your community (like a hurricane), everyone in the area expects you to be around to be a part of the solution because you're so engrained in the community.
- _Is a list-maker and executer. _Literally, you probably keep an up-to-date to-do list. You spend a little bit of time everyday thinking about what needs to get done, and then the rest of the day getting those things done. In the rare occasion when people have to ask you if you were able to finish something, the answer is almost always "yes, two days ago."
