    Summary


    The Operations Assistant Manager is responsible for providing leadership within the department by aiding in the administration of department objectives and measures.

    This position requires experience in handling challenging subject matter along with ensuring department completion of all necessary work on time and with the highest degree of quality.

    This position is required to learn and understand the high level aspects of the department functions so that he/she may appropriately provide leadership and guidance to associates while monitoring workloads and providing insight on staffing needs.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities


    • Assists in providing leadership to the department.
    • Assists in the oversight of workloads and staffing needs.
    • Aids in the creation and administration of department supervisory procedures to ensure appropriate controls are in place for their area of responsibility.
    • Maintains an understanding of the work being completed by associates and the status of various projects.
    • Streamlines processes and improves overall operational efficiency.
    • Functions as a mentor for others within the department by modeling the attitude and behavior that is expected by the team and leading by example in all aspects of the job.
    • Collaborates with leadership on decision making within the department.
    • Assists with the competency development of associates, helps build subject matter expertise and delegates projects as needed.
    • Provides expertise and knowledge on Stifel's Client Facing Applications to Stifel's Product Development teams and business stakeholders of these applications.
    Qualifications


    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to provide clear instructions when explaining complex scenarios to associates.
    • Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills to effectively handle multiple demands while meeting deadlines.
    • Working knowledge in interpreting and applying financial industry rules and regulations as well as extensive knowledge of Stifel's client and branch facing applications.
    • Ability to adapt to changes in functionality, technology, or regulatory policies when necessary.
    • Sound decision making skills.
    • Effective delegation skills to ensure completion of work.
    • Ability to think strategically in order to provide departmental improvements.
    Education & Experience


    • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Minimum Required: 6+ years' experience in financial services industry.

    Licenses & Credentials


    • Minimum Required: SIE, Series 7, 63 or ability to obtain within 12 months from start date.
    Systems & Technology


    • Proficient in

    Microsoft Office Suite:
    Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.

    • Knowledge on Stifel's applications are preferred (Stifel Wealth Tracker, Thomson, eQuest).
    • General knowledge of SQL preferred.
