About the Opportunity

  • Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a fulltime
    Human Resources Generalist to join our team.
    This opportunity would allow you to play a pivotal role in our HR department by contributing to a variety of functions that support our mission and enhance the workplace experience for our faculty and staff. This position offers the ability to gain comprehensive HR experience and make a meaningful impact on our college community. This role reports to the Director of Human Resources and will be crosstrained to provide support across all HR functions.

Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Tracking, verifying and maintaining department files and records.
  • Responding to inquiries and providing information in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in the preemployment process for staff and faculty hiring.
  • Composing letters, memos and other written materials for department use in committees, meetings or other projects.
  • Maintaining professional development learning management system.
  • Assisting with special projects such as yearend processes, performance management tracking, and training activities.

Knowledge and skill in the following are also required:

  • Skill in preparing and utilizing databases and spreadsheets effectively.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining an efficient filing systems.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Skill in analyzing documents to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are required. An example of this would be an Associate degree and experience equivalent to two years of professional office support.
