Currently recruiting for 3rd shift 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM. Facility Technicians are responsible for the operational inspection and upkeep of all facilities related equipment in the plant. The position also performs Production equipment break down, reassembly, cleaning, sanitizing, Janitorial duties and reassembly activities. The Facility Technician will operate washing machine, trash compactor, cardboard compactor, powered industrial trucks, scissor lifts, boom lifts, hoists, scrubbers, and other equipment as needed.


Minimum Qualifications:


Must be 18+ years of age.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED


Experience:
Minimum three (3) years maintenance experience. Food or beverage manufacturing environment preferred.


Essential Job Functions
Following prescribed guidelines and under general supervision, the Facilities Technician performs the following duties:

  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment as required by Plant Operating Standards. Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area to meet plant sanitation standards.
  • Performs system washouts as directed per company procedures
  • Operates plant equipment necessary to complete related tasks (training provided)
  • Performs janitorial duties as instructed throughout the Corbion Totowa facility
  • Use hand and power tools to perform simple facility repairs
  • Takes action as instructed by the Sanitation Supervisor by direct communication either written, oral or plant communication system.
  • Takes action consistent with established procedures during any emergency condition. Notifies appropriate personnel when an emergency condition is observed. Always works in accordance with established safety procedures and uses prescribed safety equipment. Follows all safety rules.
  • Performs other jobs in other classifications as instructed by supervision.
  • Assists in training personnel as required.
  • Prepares records of activities in established systems, on batch log sheets, or on other forms and presents them to supervision. Correctly indicates all repairs made, parts used, analysis performed, and other related information.
  • Must have a good level of comfort with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) systems to appropriately track and complete work orders. This requires tracking of parts used, hours worked and any other comments necessary.

General Working Environment
Maintenance Mechanics are required to work with equipment that handles acids and products at elevated temperatures.

When working with this type of equipment, Maintenance Mechanics are expected to wear PPE such as face shields, safety glasses, "hot" gloves, and safety shoes.

Maintenance Mechanics must be familiar with vessel entry, pipe opening, and electrical lockout procedures.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise. Workers are exposed to high temperatures during the summer months. Some work in cold environments during winter months. You will be exposed to a dusty work environment due to raw materials. Materials may contain allergens (eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, milk, fish, shellfish, wheat).
  • Workers are required to wear masks, hair nets, or gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Certain areas require respirators.
  • Workers usually stand for the majority of their shifts while tending machines or driving a forklift. Lifts 55 pound bags or boxes. Loading, unloading, or cleaning equipment may require lifting, bending, and reaching.

Work Relationships


In the absence of the Maintenance & Engineering Manager or other department leader, the Maintenance Mechanic will report to the Production Supervisor (primarily applies to Maintenance Mechanics on duty during evening and midnight shifts).


Usual Physical Activities
Through the course of a typical shift an individual in this position will perform the following activities;

  • Sits,
  • Stands,
  • Walks,
  • Kneels,
  • Bends,
  • Reaches above and below the shoulders,
  • Traverses multiple levels via stairs,
  • Minimum lifting capability of 50 pounds,
  • Corrected vision, speaking ability, and hearing are usually involved in performing written and verbal job functions.
