Description

A Benefit Service Representative performs the essential functions of the position, which include but not limited to aiding Sales Executives and clients with service needs and adhere to standard processes developed by the agency.

Specific service and marketing responsibilities are required in this position. This position is under the supervision of the Account Management team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Review client requests and follow up accordingly in a timely manner.
  • Assists clients with billing inquiries, adding and terminating employee benefits and claims.
  • Assists with COBRA processing and requesting health benefits ID cards for members.
  • Enters and updates new insurance plans and client information in the operating system.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate records.
  • Assists account manager with group renewals.
  • Answers incoming calls promptly and professionally.
  • Responsible for office inventory and ordering office supplies.
  • Coordinates meetings and event notifications.
  • May assist managers in various projects.

Personal and Organization Development

  • Sets priorities and manages work flow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.
  • Maintains a cordial and effective relationship with clients, coworkers, carriers, vendors and other business contacts.
  • Interacts with others effectively by utilizing good communications skills, cooperating purposefully and providing information and guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of the agency.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A combination of college education with a minimum of 1year customer service experience or a minimum of 2 years customer service experience.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others to explain complex issues, receive and interpret complex information, and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to understand written and oral communication and interpret abstract information.
  • Knowledge of insurance products and usage
  • Knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets.
  • Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures.
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
  • Familiarity with computer and word processing programs.
  • Ability to process written and other materials visually.
  • Physical efforts required include fingering, repetitive small motor activity, grasping, verbally communicating detailed and important information to others quickly and accurately, stooping, reaching, standing, lifting light objects under ten pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Large number of multiple steps in complex system performed with accuracy and speed is essential to the successful completion of tasks.

Pay:
$ $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
