JOB SUMMARY


Under the supervision of the Clinical Director office supervisor and MD, the Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients for physician; take vital signs, record patient charges, record patient history and assist in minor office procedures.

Obtain initial patient information and assist providers in order to increase efficiently and report production of the provider they are working under.


the MA will be responsible for answering, researching, and resolving customer questions, inquiries, requests, and problems in a fast-paced, healthcare call center environment both in office and remotely.


Additional responsibilities include:

  • Performs necessary duties in answering a heavy volume of telephone calls; relaying incoming and outgoing telephone calls; and in facilitating internal communication throughout community practices and the Medical Center.

Knowledge of:


  • ICD9/ ICD10, HCPCS and CPT coding
  • Federal and state healthcare mandates and regulations
  • Company policies and procedures
  • General front office procedures and skills
  • Back office procedures and skills
  • CPR/BLS
PAY - $16-$20/hr


Ability to:


Job Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Interview patients and obtain medical history, job description, history of injury and treatment, present complaints, and social history. Utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to enter patient data.
  • Transmit patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, facilities
after ordered by the provider

  • Document messages left by patient.
  • Schedule appointments
  • Scan paperwork
  • Collect insurance cards/photo ID
  • Answer phones

  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records, Insurances, WC, etc.

  • Prioritize with excellent organizational skills, responding to multiple demands and timeliness
  • Demonstrate ability to respond to common inquiries from patients, customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, health plans or member of the business community and possess excellent customer service skills

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent


Certification/Licensure:
Not required


Experience:
One of the following: 1. 6 months experience as a Medical Scribe. 2. 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have mínimal - 6 months as a medical scribe

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Medical Assistant certification and CPR/BLS certification.


SKILLS


Applicant must have exceptional written and verbal skills and be proficient in typing and have excellent spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills.

The applicant must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining great attention to detail. The applicant must also be reliable and punctual, professional, and have a willingness to learn. Excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience before attending medical school or physician assistant school. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus as is experience with medical terminology. Able to work independently. Has knowledge of industry standards and expectations. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within this field. Excellent verbal and written skills. Computer literate with knowledge of Excel/Word.
