The Capital Area College Access Network (CAN) is a coalition of community agencies, businesses, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, foundations, and other stakeholders working to increase postsecondary degree and certification attainment rates in Ingham and Eaton County.

The Program Manager will communicate and facilitate school and community planning to 1) Increase the number of students within Eaton and Ingham County Schools who enroll in a post-secondary degree or credential program upon high school graduation and 2) Assist school principals, counselors, teachers, college advisors, parents and student to establish a college-going culture at each partner school.
This role is based out of the United Way of South Central Michigan's Lansing office. This position is hybrid and requires frequent local travel and in-person evening and weekend activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION
Contribute to an equitable, diverse and inclusive organizational culture that centers people in every solution, process and function.

Collaborate with existing Eaton College Access Network leadership team and Eaton Regional Education Service Agency Career and Technical Education Work Groups.

Partner with the ERESA Career Pathways Specialist and school-based Career Development Coordinators to support integration of college and career goals and standards.

Coordinate college knowledge workshops and presentations in the community.
Assist with grant and fund development to support school-based college access activities.
Develop school building college access action plans in consultation with principals, counselors, career development coordinators, and college advisers.
Supervise AmeriCorps College Advisers with designated partner schools.

Provide training and technical assistance to college advisers via annual summer orientation, monthly meetings and professional development, and monthly individual check-ins.

Meet with the counseling team and college adviser/supervisor (if applicable) to support college access activities: College Month, College Cash, and Decision Day.

Work with College Advisers to implement and support high school College Ambassadors—providing training, incentives and generally supporting the supervision of Ambassadors.

Manage Data and Tracking college access outcomes, for MCAN Campaigns (College Month, College Cash, Decision Day), School Dashboards, and event and campaign surveys.

Support College Visits and College-going experiences, including but not limited to booking trips, chaperoning, and conducting evaluation of events.

Support FAFSA Completion, including but not limited to convening and training volunteers, keeping community calendar, and attending and supporting events.

Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in education, health, human services, nonprofit or related field is required

Previous entry level to professional experience in college access and advising include maintaining and developing community and/or educational partnerships, coordinating training, workshops and/or presentations and managing data to track outcomes

Highly motivated, dynamic, and have the ability to build positive, productive, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365

applications including :
Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint programs.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet project deadlines with attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete complex projects without intensive instruction.

Demonstrate a commitment to centering equity, diversity and inclusion,college access and ability to apply anti-oppressive and anti-racist principles in the workplace.

Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time and frequent sitting, standing and walking.
Reliable Transportation for travel within Eaton and Ingham Counties.

Use of a personal motor vehicle for transportation requires proof of insurance and the driver must have a valid Driver's license (Note:
mileage for work travel is reimbursed at the IRS mileage rate).
Ability to work evening and weekend events
Successful completion of a criminal background check and employment and education verification
Candidate must be able to work successfully in a remote environment with private office space and high-speed internet.
