    Overview

    Job Summary


    The Network Architect is responsible for designing, installing, configuring, and supporting an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), cloud computing, and internet systems.

    This includes continually monitoring the network to ensure availability and optimal performance for all system users, conducting necessary maintenance to uphold network availability standards.

    Additionally, this position oversees and tests website performance to ensure seamless operation without interruptions.

    The Network Architect also contributes to network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination, facilitating smooth integration between network and data communications hardware and software.

    Responsibilities


    Work Performed and Job RequirementsDesign, implement, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, and other network devices.

    Lead and participate in network-related projects, including planning, design, testing, and deployment.
    Design, configure, and maintain cloud network infrastructure.
    Troubleshoot network connectivity issues including but not limited to routing/switching issues, wireless issues, performance degradation, firewall issues.
    Maintain the performance of the network by analyzing performance metrics such as latency, throughput, and other network resources.
    Deploy routine software/firmware upgrades, config audits and device hardening.
    Identify ways to improve the network performance and help to develop configuration standards for improved administration.
    Work with third party vendor support teams to implement new solutions or technologies.
    Work with carriers to implement or troubleshoot WAN and internet circuits and telephony.
    Perform network integration tasks with newly acquired networks, such as site surveys and standardization planning.
    Curate network monitoring and automation platforms such as Solarwinds, FortiManager, and Meraki.
    Produce and maintain network diagrams such as layer 1-3 topologies, data flows, and boundary diagrams.
    Maintain other documentation such as switchport maps, IPAM, ISP circuits, and asset inventory.
    Maintain the security of the network by implementing and enforcing HMA's IT security policies.
    Travel occasionally to branch office or data center locations to perform hardware refreshes or other network hands-on tasks.
    Qualifications

    Education/Training

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer information systems, computer science, or related field is required.

    Experience

    Minimum 4 years' experience designing, configuring, monitoring, diagnosing/troubleshooting and remediating network performance problems. Experience with SNMP monitoring platforms such as Solarwinds Orion, PRTG, etc.

    CCNP Enterprise/R&S or similar industry certifications are highly desired.

    Experience with the following is a plus:

    Fortinet Technologies:
    Fortigate, FortiSwitch, FortiAnalyzer, FortiCloud, FortiClient VPN, FortiManager

    Other Firewalls:
    Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Sonicwall

    Other Switches:
    Dell, HPE, Cisco, and Juniper switch models

    Azure Networking:
    vnet peering, expressroute, load balancers, and route tablesOther cloud networking environments and technologies, such as AWSOther VPN Technologies, such as Cisco Anyconnect, Sonicwall NetExtender, and Palo Alto GlobalProtectKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Advanced comprehensive knowledge of


    OSI model.switching fundamentals such as 802.1q, Spanning Tree, LLDP, ARP, LACP, etc.routing fundamentals such as routing protocols, metrics, forwarding decisions, ACLs, route maps, etc.tunneling mechanisms such as IKE, IPSEC and SSL firewall policy.

    Knowledge of

    common TCP and UDP routing and SDWAN concepts.
    Microsoft Azure and/or AWS networking.

    Authentication protocols such as RADIUS, LDAP, SAML SSO, MFA.physical network technologies such as SMF, MMF, UTP, RJ45, Coaxial, Cross-over vs Straight- logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.hardware and software installation, testing, and operation.

    Demonstrated skills in

    Ability to

    Working Conditions

    Work is sedentary in nature and performed in an office environment. Frequent travel to client sites and HMA offices. Involves frequent contact with staff and clients. Work may be stressful at times.

    Work requires hand dexterity for office machine operation; stooping, climbing, and bending to files and supplies; mobility to complete errands; stand/sit for up to eight hours each day; ability to communicate clearly when using the telephone; requires sitting; standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and twisting at times; moderate levels of stress.
