Description

The IT Specialist will assist in implementing, analyzing, maintaining and supporting Knife River point-of-sales systems; configure, set up and maintain workstations and servers; keep all IT and OT equipment patched and adhere to all corporate software/hardware standards and security policies.

The IT Specialist will provide strong problem-solving skills in hardware and software, Windows platforms, Active Directory and other relevant technologies.


  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1. Two years of specialized training (i.e., trade or technical school) or an associate degree.
  • 2. One to two years of related IT experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3. Knowledge of computer and network hardware and cabling.
  • 4. Knowledge of computer network protocols such as TCP/IP and working knowledge of DNS.
  • 5. Ability to meet the physical requirements of considerable standing, walking, crawling, and lifting of personal computers.
  • 6. Must have a current, valid driver's license and maintain acceptable driving record.
  • 7. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Office 365, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Preferred Requirements:
  • 1. Experience configuring and supporting Windows operating systems.
  • Duties and/or Responsibilities:
  • 1. Assist in the administration of file, directory structure and security on all Windows servers in conjunction with the Knife River Corporate IT Team.
  • 2. Ensure computers, routers, switches and Operational Technology equipment (cameras etc.) have up to date antivirus, security software, operating system patches, remote control tools in conjunction with Knife River Corporate IT Team.
  • 3. Provide network support for the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).
  • 4. Assist in providing technical knowledge in the planning, installation, and configuration of LAN hardware and software equipment.
  • 5. Assist in providing ongoing technical support for the identification, analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of LAN malfunctions in a timely manner. Identifies problems requiring vendor assistance and coordinates vendor technical support.
  • 6. Assist in implementing, supporting and training of cameras, wireless equipment, traffic controls, scale interfaces and other supporting hardware for Point of Sales systems.
  • 7. Assist in effectively organizing hardware inventories and secure data rooms to help provide efficient support.
  • 8. Assist with documentation of systems, end user procedures and hardware systems and offices to optimize departmental efficiencies.
  • 9. Provides end user technical support in a timely and professional manner.
  • 10. Remain technically competent by constantly expanding technology knowledge base.
  • 11. Perform routine maintenance on all company computers.
  • 12. Work on special projects as assigned by the Knife River Corporate IT Team or local management team.
  • 13. Coordinate testing of patches/upgrades with the Knife River Corporate IT Team.
  • 14. Contribute knowledge of and provide technical support for the deployment and migration of new network technologies in an active directory, Citrix and Cloud environments. 16. Must possess and exhibit the highest level of moral and ethical standards at all times.
  • 17. Understand and adhere to current KRC policies as it relates to IT security and access to confidential information.
  • 18. Available to assist with scheduled oncall support and technical emergencies as required.
  • 19. Perform other duties as assigned
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 1. Experience in coordinating tasks assigned to 3rd party IT service providers.
  • 2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • 4. Understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality of all company information.
