ZEMOS - Center for Solvation Science

We are looking for a
Technical Assistant (m/f/d) to join our team at the ZEMOS research center at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) in Hyrum, UT.

In this role, you will work closely with researchers in a motivated and friendly team.

Our research center promotes an open and interdisciplinary work culture, where employees from different backgrounds and nationalities can exchange ideas and utilize state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.

Position Details:

Fulltime, permanent position hours/week)
Starting date: August 15, 2024

Responsibilities:

Operating and training users on various spectrometers and other complex scientific instruments (UV-VIS, DLS, IR, FTIR, fluorescence)
Organizing and conducting maintenance on central equipment and installations at ZEMOS
Performing and analyzing chemical and electrochemical experiments, and writing reports
Working with hazardous materials and under inert gas conditions
Assisting with occupational safety, including hazard assessments and instructions
Transporting and handling heavy loads (gas cylinders)
Collaborating with international scientists in German and English

Qualifications:

Completed training as a Chemical-Technical Assistant or equivalent (e.g. Physical-Technical Assistant, Chemical Laboratory Technician with relevant experience)
Willingness to work in an international team and support research processes (purchasing, maintenance, etc.)
