- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Certification as a Teacher of Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification in the state of Louisiana.
- At least one year of recent experience working with students who are visually impaired.
- Knowledge of best practices, instructional strategies, and assistive technologies for students with visual impairments.
- Strong munication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and educational teams.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' educational needs and levels of visual functioning.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to address students' academic, functional, and developmental goals.
- Provide direct instruction in specialized areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, adaptive technology, and daily living skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure that students' educational needs are met in inclusive settings.
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments.
- Provide consultation and support to educational teams regarding acmodations, modifications, and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of services provided, progress reports, and other relevant information.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other multidisciplinary team meetings as required.
