Job Summary:
Museum of History Benicia is seeking a Camp Coordinator to oversee the operation of our summer camp program. The Camp Coordinator will be responsible for creating a safe and engaging program for campers and managing camp staff.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Education in planning and coordinating camp activities for 611 year olds, including crafts, story time, active play, imaginative play, tours of museum galleries, and group discussions
- Lead camp activities for up to 18 children in a museum setting
- Train and supervise camp staff, volunteers and CounselorsinTraining, ensuring they adhere to camp policies and procedures, including best practices for working with children and following state mandated break requirements
- Develop and implement camp policies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants
- Maintain accurate records of camper attendance, medical information, and emergency contact details
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding camp updates, schedules, and any concerns or issues that may arise
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the camp program and make recommendations for improvements
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines related to camp operations
Experience, skills and abilities:
- At least 2 years experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting
- Knowledge of child development and classroom management techniques
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize the children's experience, be flexible with schedules and keep camp areas tidy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children and adults
