Position Overview:


The Machine (Press Brake) Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, or tending woodworking or metal fabrication machines, such as drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, and wood drilling machines.

May operate computer numeric controlled (CNC) equipment.

Operators make sure their machines are working at full capacity, are stocked with needed materials, are well-maintained and perform periodic checks on output.

Finished product is reviewed to ensure it is defect-free and ready for the next step in production.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Safety Sensitive position.
  • Set up and operate machines such as brakes, rolls, sheers, saws, and presses.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Select, position, and secure blades, cutters, and fixtures onto machine.
  • Observe operation of machine and adjust the action or programming if needed.
  • Make minor repairs and adjustments to machines and notifies supervisor when major service is required.
  • Maintain cleanliness in assigned area.
  • Maintain all safety standards.
  • Support other departments as necessary.
  • Perform additional assignments in accordance with the Shop Supervisor's direction.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, and maintenance.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Proficient basic math skills.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, multitask environment.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with coworkers and vendors.

Education and/or Experience:


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Trained in lockout/tagout (LOTO).
  • Demonstrate handson shop floor experience in both metal and wood manufacturing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience.

  • The working conditions are on the manufacturing plant floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay:
From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
