- Determining risk from proposed engineering changes, and risk appropriate precautions and monitoring when making changes
- Understanding process impacts on safety, quality, cost, and manufacturing output
- BS, MS or PhD in engineering or physical sciences;
- 3-5 years relevant work experience.
- The combination of industry experience and degree level will be considered in selecting applicants to interview.
- Direct previous industry experience as an engineering owner of metal deposition processes - especially PVD
- Detailed knowledge of metallurgy and metals deposition - ideally for PVD processing
- Direct experience with SPTS PVD equipment is ideal (but not required) for this role
- Understanding of statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), fault detection and classification (FDC), and basic RF and vacuum science concepts.
- Exposure with data analysis tools (Spotfire, JMP).
- Programming experience preferred: script writing, SQL queries, Spotfire.
- Experience in development and completion of qualification plans.
- Demonstrated application of structured problem-solving methods.
- Must be flexible and able to adjust to changing goals, objectives, and policies of the company, and have excellent time management and organization skills.
- Versatility and ability to work on multiple tasks.
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows-based software.
- Experience with concept and practices of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
- Strong oral and written communication skills

Qorvo has an opening for a Metals PVD Process Engineer at our Hillsboro, Oregon wafer fab.
This position requires direct previous microelectronics industry experience as an engineering owner of metal deposition processes with detailed knowledge of metallurgy and deposition equipment / operational principles. The ideal candidate would have in-depth experience in PVD process engineering in a semiconductor manufacturing environment, and a proven track record of implementing automated solutions to prevent human error and improve quality and productivity in the module. Successful candidates must be independent contributors who are also at home & effective working in cross-functional teams to gather and review data that drives solutions to technical problems, or improves Qorvo's Hillsboro, OR GaAs wafer fab performance metrics.
