JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general supervision, is responsible to enforce all ordinances relating to parking enforcement. Performs other related duties as required.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES OF THE CLASSIFICATION
- Enforces all ordinances pertaining to parking enforcement; either on foot or in a vehicle.
- Post temporary no parking signs when required.
- Assist in traffic control during special events or anytime deemed necessary by the supervisor or his designee.
- Provides coverage for front desk when deemed necessary by a supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
- Writes parking tickets for parking violations.
- Drives parking enforcement vehicle or walks assigned area.
- Operates radio, computer, and other related equipment.
- Learns and stays updated on all ordinances pertaining to parking enforcement.
- Learns and stays updated on city streets, shopping malls, parking lots, and all other areas of the city where parking violations are enforced.
- Communicates and is able to get along with fellow employees and supervisors.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED
Automobile, radio, computer, and any other equipment related to the job.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES ( indicates developed after employment)
Knowledge of:
Department policy and procedure*; laws and ordinances concerning parking enforcement, radio communications, city streets, shopping malls, parking lots, and other areas of the city where parking violations are enforced.
Ability to:
Learn laws and ordinances dealing with parking enforcement and to be able to properly and fairly enforce those laws; communicate effectively in written and verbal form; develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, officials and general public;
Skill in:
Operation of radio, parking enforcement vehicle, other equipment relating to the job of parking enforcement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
An example of an acceptable qualification for this position is:
Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form, possession of or ability to obtain a valid Indiana Drivers License.
