- Plan, execute, and oversee all program activities for 8th and 9th grade City Kids participants (e.g., outdoor trips, local excursions, family engagement, incident management)
- Handle all operational aspects of programs for 8th and 9th graders (e.g., emergency response planning, first aid, gear selection, meal planning, transportation, parent outreach, attendance tracking)
- Update program curriculum to ensure consistency between school year and summer camp activities
- Assist in family engagement events and activities
- Manage camp logistics, daily programming, special events, and leadership responsibilities
- Participate in staff training and contribute to creating a positive camp culture
- Assist in general camp operations and maintenance
- Collaborate with program teams to design and implement weekly activities for high school students in DC
- Lead all communication with families regarding program activities, enrollment, and follow-ups
- Organize program orientations
- Connect students with community partners for support
- Assist in hiring and training summer staff
- Coordinate with volunteers and trip instructors for program details
- Update youth records, create reports, and administer program evaluation surveys
- Ensure proper maintenance of youth records
- Manage program expenses and support fundraising efforts
- Handle program expenses, assist with budgeting, and coordinate expense tracking
- Support grant reporting and fundraising activities
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in wilderness/outdoor program management
- Previous experience in summer camp or outdoor education
- Experience in adolescent and positive youth development
- Knowledge of program and wilderness risk management
- Experience working in diverse communities
- Valid driver's license
- CPR and Wilderness First Responder Certifications
- Commitment to City Kids' mission and values
- Cultural competency and a focus on social justice
- High level of creativity, flexibility, and project management skills
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities

Organization Description: City Kids Wilderness Project's mission is to foster resiliency, expand horizons, nurture community, and develop skills for success in DC youth through a long-term, cohort-based model that leverages both the wilderness and urban environment in and around Washington, D.C., and during the summer at our ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Youth join as sixth graders and continue their journey with City Kids alongside the same group of peers until 12th grade and beyond.
Position Summary: The Elite & Leadership Program Manager is accountable for the planning, oversight, and delivery of top-notch programming for Elite & Leadership participants (8th - 9th graders). The programs involve activities and nature experiences aimed at enhancing outdoor skills, deepening the youth's connection to their surroundings, and teaching crucial skills for success during and after high school.
Programs take place during various periods outside of school hours, including school closure dates, select afternoons, weekends, and summer break for students. Apart from leading programs in DC throughout the school year, the Elite & Leadership Program Manager will also lead a multi-day trip to South Carolina and spend time in Jackson Hole, WY during the summer to run summer camp activities for Elite (8th grade) & Leadership (9th grade) participants.

Compensation: City Kids offers a competitive salary range of $55K - $75K along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes healthcare coverage, disability insurance, 401K, generous PTO, and more.
