Job Purpose:

To assemble wood handles onto various forged heads and secure onto handle.


Essential Functions:


1. Assembles wood handle and caps onto various forged heads (i.e. DFH hammer, bricklayer hammer, etc.):

Presses handle onto head; presses wood and metal wedges into spline; removes excess material from head; and finishes head with wood putty.

Inspects finished handles on tool heads for quality and rejects defective products.


3. Imprints hammer head with appropriate information using pad print machine.


4. Perform necessary adjustments on equipment to accommodate various sizes of hammers.


5. Transports tools to and from appropriate staging areas.


6. Completes the appropriate routing sheet and inputs data entry information in a timely manner.


Additional Responsibilities:


1. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:


1. One (1) month to three (3) months of related experience or on-the-job training.


Physical:


1. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and use arms/hands to reach, finger, handle or feel, talk and hear for 8 hours or more per day.


2. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and communicate effectively


3. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds and/or move up to 100 pounds.


4. Must have close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus to work.


5. Employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, high noise levels, and vibration to hands.


6. Employees will be required to wear hearing protection, safety glasses and foot protection.


Mental:


1. Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.


2. Must be able to perform mathematical skills such as:

addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


3. Must have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
