Finlays has long been a leader in the operation of both high volume and specialist extracts from Tea and Coffee in addition to the traditional business of sourcing and supplying leaf tea, botanicals and roast and ground coffee products.

    OVERVIEW:

    We are looking for a Maintenance Manager to join our team to ensure continuous improvement of the Maintenance systems across our business, to assure our services meet our customers' (internal and external) expectations and are produced in the most cost effective and safest way. Safety of our employees and operation of the equipment is of highest importance. Furthermore, Finlays Americas has ambitious growth plans, and this role will be essential in delivering an enhanced maintenance program to support those growth ambitions. This key position will work alongside other departments and teams within the multiple sites based in the US to support its growth ambitions and investments in the field of Liquid and Powdered Tea Extracts, Leaf Tea, Botanicals, Tea Packing, Coffee Extracts and Roast and Grind Coffee.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The successful candidate will make a major contribution to the Finlays Americas business success by using their safety, maintenance, engineering, and management skills to find practical solutions for problems and opportunities which arise within Finlays business. They should be able to operate within a multi-disciplinary and multi-functional work environment and always demonstrate their skills and commitment to teamwork and project disciplines.

    The successful candidate will use their expertise to help the business make a step change improvement in its ability to serve its customers and meet market needs. This will include financial evaluations, and the development and management of projects from conception through to capital investment proposals, approvals, and implementations.

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

    • Team Management and development
    • Program Management to include, but not limited to:
      1. LOTO

      4. Electrical/Arc Flash
      5. Risk Assessment
      6. CMMS
      7. Skills Training
      8. Preventive Maintenance
    • Continuous Improvement (CI) Projects
    • Preventive Maintenance (PM) Planning and Review
    • Spare Parts Planning and Review
    • CMMS Administration
      1. Inventory Management
      2. WO and PM Audits
      3. Manufacturing Asset Management
    • KPIs (Equipment Downtime, Repair Costs, Meantime Between Failure, etc.)
    • Ensure Excellent Service to Manufacturing and Other Teams
    • Maintenance Budgets
    • Audit Preparation and Preparedness
    • Facilities and Utilities Operation – including sustainability initiatives

    QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for consistently maintaining safe quality food products by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
    • Ensuring visitors, contractors and customers are documented on each visit in and out of the facility to maintain good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense/food security and HACCP controls.
    • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
    • Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
    • Exhibit an understanding of quality standards and the ability to speak to Finlays quality systems.

    MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

    • No safety incidents within the maintenance department
    • Adherence to planned maintenance work (PMs)
    • Training and Development of team members
    • Ensuring all safe work practices are adhered to
    • Maintenance work completed quickly and right the first time
    • The maintenance program is delivered on budget
    • Tracking of departmental KPIs to show improvement (i.e., reduced downtime, etc.)

    WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

    • Strong mechanical/electrical experience
    • Strong knowledge in CMMS
    • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills and develop individuals within a team environment
    • Background in Continuous Improvement
    • Good administrative and mathematical skills with willingness to handle paperwork
    • Computer skills in Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, or similar project management tool
    • Have good planning and organizational skills
    • Understanding of the proper use of work orders, priorities, scheduling, etc.

    SKILLS AND EXPEREINCE YOU WILL BRING TO US:

    • Bachelor's degree in related Engineering field
    • 10+ years industry experience
    • Good verbal and written communication skills required
    • 3-5 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred

    WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Extended work hours as needed
    • Weekend work as needed
    • Excessive standing, sitting & repetitive motions.
    • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

    • Partner with colleagues across all functions to share knowledge, skills, and information regarding quality and food safety.
    • Adhere to all health and safety work practices.
    • Exhibit an understanding of quality and food safety standards and be able to speak about the Finlays quality and food safety system and your role in it.
    • Handle customer complaints in a timely and professional manner so that the customer is put first, always.
    • Participate fully in Finlays programs that drive continuous improvement methodologies.
