SUMMARY


Plans, coordinates, and manages quality assurance program designed to ensure consistent production, continual improvement of products and processes that meet or exceed customer requirements by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain a quality system that assures MEAC's products are world class in terms of quality.
  • Maintain an environment of continual improvement for MEAC's products and processes.
  • Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analysing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Coordinates the evaluation of product quality to determine whether to accept a product and/or continue business with a vendor based on product quality.
  • Reviews and reports on the performance and effectiveness of quality assurance monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
  • Provides analysis and feedback information on all pertinent quality issues to management.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, products, and processes.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of industry quality codes and standards.
  • Organizes and leads quality management teams within organization.
  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training programs related to product quality.
  • Investigates and coordinates all activities related to customer quality complaints including oral and written correspondence with customers.
  • Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of and supports Human Resource, Quality and Safety/Environmental policies & practices. Strives for continuous improvement in their area of expertise and job function that results in better cost, quality, or functionality of the products we deliver to our customers.
  • Perform the review of both customer specific requirements and satisfaction in reference to both new and existing customers to ensure all functions in the organization have the applicable requirements to the latest revision levels
  • Translate and interpret customer specific requirements, as necessary to ensure the organizations meets the customers' requirements
  • Abide by the organizations legal and other requirements, as well as statutory and regulatory obligations
  • Manage the submission of deviation requests, process changes, and engineering change requests
  • Assist in the design, documentation, and maintenance of system processes
  • Manage a project's scope, acceptance, installation and deployment from start to finish
  • Report on technical issues and questions, make recommendations to product team
  • Communicate key insights to stakeholders, facilitators, and partners
  • Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve business practices and efficiencies
  • Manage the quality laboratory, including all personnel and equipment, to provide nondestructive testing of castings and verify chemical composition of aluminium alloys.

LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages subordinates and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Additionally may supervise other employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree from a fouryear college or university preferred; or 4 (four) to 7 (seven) years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledgeable of and supports Human Resource, Quality and Safety/Environmental policies & practices. Strives for continuous improvement in their area of expertise and job function that results in better cost, quality, or functionality of the products we deliver to our customers
  • Knowledge of quality, manufacturing and inventory software, knowledge of design software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software
  • Strong communication skills in order to clearly explain options and solutions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to heat, loud noise, dust, odors, dirt/dust and fumes.
