Responsibilities

Use standard accounting and bookkeeping procedures, keep accurate continuous record of the cash and financial position of the school and manage the financial operation of the school utilizing Blackbaud NXT.
Prepare monthly financial statements for the Head of School & the Board and a monthly report of expenditures for use of each budget center within the school.
Establish a plan/schedule for the preparation of the annual operating budget and capital expenditures budget.
Prepare reports as needed for the annual audit of the school's financial records & positions.
Maintain appropriate levels of insurance.
Perform, assign, and audit the work of the accounting staff, maintain records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Responsible for all basic accounting procedures; financial statement preparation, monthend closing; journal entries and general ledger maintenance, fixed assets, and budget analysis; prepare supporting schedules for financial statements preparation.
Oversee Human Resources department including policies, benefits and payroll.
Provide staff support, in conjunction with the Head of the school, to the Finance Committee and the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Preferred Qualifications

Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, work with a team (strong interpersonal skills), and be able to solve problems without sacrificing relationships.
Ability relate to and work collaboratively with constituents, leadership teams, and stakeholders.
Proven experience as a Director of Finance or similar role, experience in a school setting preferred.

Education and Experience

Bachelors in Accounting (or similar discipline); Masters preferred.
5 years experience in a similar role; education experience preferred.
