Description

Summary
Clinical Assistant assists providers and patients.

By rooming patients, updating medical records, scheduling appointments, taking medical histories, preparing patients for examinations or procedures, assisting during diagnostic procedures, collecting, and preparing lab specimens, scribing and documenting in the patient chart, educating patients, discussing results and coordinating treatments, preparing supplies/rooms and answering phone calls/ patient portal online communications and handling correspondence.


Essential Functions

  • Rooming patients, obtaining, and documenting medical history, effective verbal and nonverbal communication with the provider, scribing/documentation on behalf of the provider.
  • Assisting during the exam and during diagnostic procedures. This includes collecting and preparing lab specimens.
  • Educating and Discussing results and treatment plans with the patient.
  • Inputting/Documenting Pathology results and coordinating treatments/follow ups when needed.
  • Scheduling of appointments and treatments
  • Monitoring/ Set-Up/ Cleaning of Equipment.
  • Maintain clinical exam rooms.
  • Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to treatment.
  • Answering phone and internet communications and handling correspondence
  • Charting in EMR system
  • Participation in training and employee meetings

Competencies

  • Current Michigan MA, LPN or RN License, minimum would be CDT Certified.
  • BLS certified or willing to get BLS certified within 90 days

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervision responsibilities.

This job operates in a professional office environment.

This role requires the employee to frequently stand, walk, push/pull, and perform some light lifting.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a benefit eligible position. Hours can be 64, 72 hours or 80 hours a pay period.


Required Education and Experience
Minimum Certified Medical Assistant, LPN, or RN. Preferred Dermatology Experience of Two Years.
