    Job Description **Engineer in Training - Plumbing & Fire Protection**

    AKF Group LLC is an award-winning professional services firm providing engineering, commissioning, testing, technology, sustainability & lightning design services. We are currently recruiting recent graduate engineers who studied Mechanical, Fire Protection, Architectural or Plumbing Engineering to join our New York office.

    Our graduate engineers are an integral part of our project teams and work closely with our Senior Engineers for technical mentoring and assist in developing and delivering solutions for a wide range of building projects and high-profile clients.

    **Responsibilities:**

    Design plumbing systems (domestic water, sanitary drainage and vent, storm drainage, medical gases) for various types of commercial and institutional buildings

    Survey existing plumbing and fire protection systems in buildings

    Review and understand task objectives and requirements as communicated by the PM or Project Engineer

    Assist in code analysis, required calculations, equipment selection and field survey tasks

    Assist in the evaluation of fundamental engineering guidelines, code compliance requirements and industry standards

    Assist in documentation processes

    Prepare materials for presentations or client meetings

    Assist in the requests for information and drafting correspondence

    Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors

    Update job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations

    Perform other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements **Skills and Qualifications:**

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited engineering program with a major in the following disciplines: Mechanical, Fire Protection, Architectural or Plumbing Engineering

    Between 0 - 4 years of experience with a consulting engineering firm

    Ability to travel to client meetings and project sites

    Strong organizational, prioritization, decision making and analytical skills

    Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal skills

    Ability to independently accomplish tasks and assignments to meet deadlines with supervision

    Ability to consistently set goals and adapt to flexible responsibilities

    Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

    Beginning understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry

    Introductory knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards

    Introductory working knowledge of BIM/Revit or AutoCAD
