    Job Summary:

    Prestigious leadership opportunity in clinical operations awaits you as Vice Chair, Clinical Affairs, Department of Anesthesiology, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, in beautiful Madison, Wisconsin. As a member of the Senior Leadership team, the successful candidate is responsible for operations oversight of the clinical enterprise, resource management and human resources. As the first anesthesiology department in the country, you will join this rich tradition of exceptional clinical care, teaching and discovery.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Departmental operations and scheduling, resource management, patient care and coordination, program development, strategic planning and recruitment.
    • Promoting a professional and respectful work environment, while continually advocating for quality, safety and process improvement.
    • Enforce established standards for perioperative anesthetic care.
    • Assist with integration of teaching, research and scholarship in the clinical practice setting.
    • Oversee deployment of Departmental resources to cover daily enterprise needs.
    • Represent Departmental interests with enterprise leadership.
    • Lead Departmental efforts at clinical program development, workforce planning, recruitment and hiring.
    • Oversees the creation of daily departmental schedules, monthly call and site staffing schedules, and annual vacation and meeting schedules.
    • Participate in annual budgeting process, act as liaison between faculty/staff and department's coders and billers, collaborate with compliance, quality and risk management as appropriate,

    It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

    Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this postings. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

    This position will be a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.

    The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver. If you chose to pursue a waiver and apply for our position, neither the UW nor UWMF will reimburse you for your legal or waiver fees.

    This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

    Terminal Degree

    Medical Degree (MD or DO)

    Qualifications:

    Completion of Anesthesiology residency program and certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

    For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

    For appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.

    License/Certification:

    Required

    MD - Physician - State Licensure

    Wisconsin medical license or eligible for Wisconsin licensure (MD or DO). Board eligible or certified by
