Essential Job Functions:


  • EJF 3. (25%) Routine and complex tasks. Interpret rules and DSHS policy regarding GLA, RAM reciprocity, Waste Shipper, and Waste Transporter certifications, and RAM license amendments. Answer routine questions from the public and licensees requiring interpretation of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Prepares routine and special correspondence, documents, and reports. Performs complex computerrelated tasks using databases. Compiles and enters data for charts, graphs, databases summaries or reports. May develop administrative and technical assistance policies and procedures for the review of license and permits.
  • EJF 6. (5%)
Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:

actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response, recovery, or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation including nuclear emergency response drills, exercises, and actual response to accidents.

Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.


Knowledge Skills Abilities:


Knowledge of:

  • Office, administrative and licensing/permitting principles and procedures.
  • Applicable policies, administrative codes, and statutes.
  • Correct grammar, word choice, sentence structure, spelling and punctuation.
  • Regulatory practices, principles, and procedures.
  • Skill in:
  • Use of standard office equipment (personal computer, telephone, copier/scanner).
  • Using and maintaining databases to enter and retrieve data and produce reports.
  • Using Microsoft Office programs, esp. Word and Excel.
  • Composing and editing written correspondence, reports, and forms.
  • Written and verbal communication of technical material and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to:
  • Communicate and express ideas clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
  • Write and implement administrative procedures and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Interpret statues, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of documents, materials, and information.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Provide quality customer service to the public.
  • Prepare concise technical reports and documents, and effective business correspondence.

Initial Selection Criteria:


  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2. Experience related to interpreting rules, policies and procedures. 4. Experience interacting with customers.

Additional Information:

  • This position involves parttime telework, typically 34 days per week. Fulltime telework may be negotiated.
