Job Summary:


The Associate Director of Operations at University Health Services (UHS) is entrusted with supporting the direction and leadership of operational activities, aligning them with the strategic objectives of UHS and UW-Madison Student Affairs.

UHS operations team is made up of budgeting & financial management, marketing & health communications, clinical informatics, health information and privacy, building services, student health insurance and human resource administration.

This role provides support in these areas and also includes project management responsibilities for operational projects.

By fostering a supportive work environment, the Associate Director of Operations ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care while championing staff and provider well-being.

Key responsibilities include establishing, monitoring, and refining goals and objectives to uphold UHS's standards of excellence.


The Associate Director of Operations collaborates with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement, utilizing data-driven analyses to propose innovative solutions.

Through close coordination with various departments and leaders, they facilitate seamless operations across UHS.


Moreover, the Associate Director of Operations serves as a liaison between UHS and relevant stakeholders, fostering effective communication and collaboration.

This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer; working closely with medical, mental health, allied health professionals, and administrative personnel to drive operational efficiency and service excellence.

With a deep understanding of UHS initiatives and strengths, the Associate Director of Operations strategically positions the organization for continued success within the UW-Madison community.


  • 20% Serves as an insightful senior advisor to divisional or executive leadership and represents leadership with integrity as needed in all divisional matters. Serves as a liaison to internal constituent and governance groups
  • 20% Coordinates across all functions including administrative, operational, financial, curriculum, academic, and student services of administrative units on behalf of divisional or executive leadership
  • 10% Coordinates daily staff activities and work for divisional or executive leadership
  • 25% Manages projects and strategic initiatives on behalf of divisional or executive leadership
  • 15% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 fulltime equivalent (FTE) employees

Education:


Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business, Organizational Leadership or related field


Preferred:
Master's Degree


Qualifications:


Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years in a management or supervisory role
  • Experience in healthcare management

Preferred:

  • Experience with project management: specifically a proven ability to manage multiple projects at once and stay on schedule
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide leadership in a complex, dynamic environment
  • Proven record of leadership responsibility, including identifying and managing process improvement opportunities

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:


Minimum $110,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
