    THE POSITION

    The Department of Transportation, District 2 has an immediate opening for a Transportation Technician that will be responsible for supporting the Roadway Management System Unit in providing the most timely and accurate roadway information available for both internal and external customers. Apply today

    DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    In this position, you will be responsible for carrying out entry-level technical tasks, which include aiding in the collection of data and inputting field data for the federally required Highway Performance Monitoring System. Additionally, they will be required to assist in updating the computerized database if any modifications or corrections are needed. This position will also involve supporting summer interns as they conduct STAMPP surveys on guide rail, shoulder, and drainage conditions.

    Furthermore, you will be tasked with evaluating the accuracy of the RMS Database by utilizing existing as-built plans and implementing any necessary adjustments. All work will be overseen by a technical supervisor who will provide general guidance and review the outcomes achieved by the employee.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:
    • Seasonal full-time employment.
      • The seasonal program is from April through October.
    • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • Vendor-controlled position.
    • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
    • One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
    • One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
    Other Requirements:
    • This particular position requires possession of a Class C non-commercial driver's license.
