About Us:

The Bronzeville Center for the Arts (BCA) is a nonprofit organization rooted in art, culture, and history of the African diaspora.

Located in Bronzeville - a historically African American neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - the BCA will invite audiences of all ages to engage with dynamic art exhibitions and enriching educational programing when the art museum at 2312 N Dr Martin Luther King Jr Dr opens in 2026.

BCA seeks to advance institutional equality, within an environment that connects intergenerational audiences, and provide an African American museum for people to experience intellectual and cultural exchange.

Gallery 507 is the BCA Planning Office as well as a small gallery and retail shop.

Job description:

Administrative Assistant coordinates office activities and manage company information in a central location by completing a range of clerical tasks.

You will be responsible for managing daily administrative tasks to ensure our office runs smoothly. This position is ideal for organized, detail-oriented individuals who thrive in a fast-paced setting.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize executive calendars.
  • Prepare reports, presentations and other documents.
  • Organize and schedule monthly and annual operations, such as agendas, meetings, logistics, luncheon arrangement and travel plans.
  • Create and maintain databases (supporters, donors, and community partners) and Board directories.
  • Assist the Board by helping Chair with agendas and distributing information, taking meeting minutes, maintaining all Board documents.
  • Support the bookkeeper by processing invoices.
  • Maintain digital and physical files.
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment.
  • Answer the phone, open and distribute incoming daily mail including trips to pick up PO Box mail.
  • Set up or confirm appointments or event schedules with artists, vendors, clients or visitors.
  • Other duties as needed including, but not limited to, general office administration and operational support.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience as administrative assistant.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, management, office administration or communication.
  • Proven experience in office management.
  • Experience with MS Office, Excel, scheduling software.
  • Experience in data management and resource maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to take initiative and guide projects from conception to successful completion.
  • Track record of managing several projects simultaneously.
  • Solid work ethic, commitment to punctuality, and excellent attention to detail.

Pay:
$50, $70,000.00 per year
