Overview
For over 50 Years, Laurel Hill Summer Camp has been one of the best summer camps in Suffolk County, Long Island.
The camp is designed for children from Preschool through 10th grade, providing them with a platform to explore new skills and interests during the summer.
Our camp offers various programs such as sports, arts and crafts, drama, music, gymnastics, karate, swimming, nature exploration, games, gardening, computers, swing shot, rock climbing, and tennis.
We look for Camp Team Members who are enthusiastic and motivated, possess a genuine love of teaching and coaching children and teens, and are eager to work hard and play hard.
All Specialty teachers at Laurel Hill take part in camp-wide community events and themes, and demonstrate leadership as positive role models for campers and group staff.
Laurel Hill Summer Camp seeks a high-energy, energetic, highly enthusiastic Wacky Games Specialist to plan and lead a variety of fun, unconventional, and engaging games for campers of all ages.
Duties include organizing skill development and game sessions for our campers, managing and organizing equipment, and ensuring a safe and productive environment for all campers and staff.
Position
As a Wacky Games Specialist, you will plan and execute athletic activities, ensuring all campers are engaged and participating in Wacky Games in a safe and fun environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a diverse range of wacky games and activities suitable for different age groups.
- Source and maintain all supplies, set up and break down all equipment, maintain cleanliness of work area
- Submit weekly ageappropriate lesson plans.
- Ensure all activities are safe and inclusive, and encourage participation and cooperation.
- Adapt activities to suit the skill levels and interests of campers.
- Teach and demonstrate sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Coordinate with other camp staff to organize Wacky Games and Activities, incorporating them into the overall camp program.
- Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere for all campers.
- Participate in campwide community events and themes, demonstrating leadership as a positive role model.
Qualifications
- A passion for games, creativity and having fun
- Ability to plan, set up, and instruct a variety of games and activities.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and motivational skills.
- Previous experience working with children in a camp or recreational setting
- Ability to lead and manage large groups of children and Camp Counselors
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
