    Job Summary:

    The director of nursing services provides nursing leadership and direction for school nurses and is the contact person for state, borough, and other health services.

    Serves as a liaison with the school district's medical advisor, school nurses, special needs teachers and related staff, and administration.

    Provides direction for the health service program within the framework of established policies and legal requirements of the district and provides direction in the employment and evaluation of school nurses.


    Salary:

    Grade 8:
    $84, $116,903.28 DOE
    Work Day: 8 hours
    Work Year: 12 months

    Bargaining Unit:

    Non-Represented Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position): Possession of an Alaska State Registered Nurse license as a registered professional nurse (R.N.).

    Minimum of two (2) years of professional, clinically relevant nursing experience.

    Knowledge of OSHA guidelines as related to school nursing; familiarity with principles and practices underlying the field of school health; knowledge of state and local laws relating to school health.

    Must demonstrate administrative and managerial skills. Proficient in the use of the internet and Microsoft Office. Proven abilities in both verbal and written communication. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical staff, agency personnel, the administration, and the public.

    Ability to work with other groups, both within the community and within the district, to advance the needs of student supports in a manner consistent with district policies, goals, objectives, and resources.

    Must be able to travel to various schools and offices within the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. While driving on district business, must hold a valid driver's license, current vehicle insurance and registration.
