Job Duties

If so, we may have the perfect job for you The Department of Labor and Industry's Voluntary Protection Program is seeking a highly motivated professional to work independently as a fulltime VPP Regional Coordinator in the agency's Verona Field Office located in Verona, VA. This position conducts extensive onsite occupational safety and health evaluations and investigations in a variety of workplace environments to determine compliance with Occupational Safety and Health statutes, regulations, and Voluntary Protection Program requirements. Under the guidance of the VPP Manager, the individual will work independently performing onsite evaluations leading teams of volunteers, observing operations, and interviewing employees for the purpose of evaluating workplaces for recognition and qualification as VPP worksites.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience conducting onsite occupational safety and health evaluations and investigations in a variety of workplace environments.
  • Ability to work independently and be responsible for selfdirecting schedules.
  • Working knowledge of Safety and Health Management Systems and how to evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to compose narrative reports and correspondence.

Additional Considerations

  • Certification (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience) in the area of industrial hygiene, safety/health, related sciences, and/or engineering.
  • Safety or Health Certifications (CSP, CIH, CHST, etc)
  • Fluency speaking, reading, and writing Spanish is a plus.

Special Instructions

  • Special Requirements:
  • Possession or ability to obtain a valid driver's license within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity that includes, but is not limited to, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, walking up and down inclines, occasionally lifting and carrying loads up to 30 pounds, etc.
