Description
Working in an integrated team model, the Patient Registration Specialist will provide excellent customer service to our patients. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position typically working Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Some evenings and Saturdays may be required. Travel to other Cherry Health sites may also be required.

Requirements:


  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year working in a healthcare setting with electronic medical record experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to maintain professional behavior at all times
  • Maintain and establish effective working relationships while following oral and written instructions
  • Travel within the Grand Rapids area
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required

Responsibilities:


  • Ensure that registration area and telephones open promptly at assigned hours and closing details are carried out.
  • Greet clients/patients and ensure documentation for visit is obtained and recorded appropriately, including confirmation of insurance eligibility, and other necessary forms are filled out completely, and required signatures are secured.
  • Obtain necessary patient information, including insurance provider, update patient information if necessary, and collect payment for services and/or bill patients' accounts.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments and maximize productivity by using established scheduling guidelines, and contact clients for follow up, rescheduling and referral of appointments.
  • Review sliding fee scale costs if necessary.
  • Monitor daily schedules to ensure compliance with guidelines and report variations and make recommendation for change.
  • Keep accurate reports, patient statistics, and office productivity and participate in data reporting as requested.
  • Maintain office supply inventory.
  • Perform general office duties such as filing, sorting, mail distribution, and data entry.
  • Participate in continued education annually, completing CPR and other training as assigned.
