General Summary:


The preferred hiring range for this position is between $15.00 to $19.50 hourly. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position. The position also provides excellent benefits including 13 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, City's retirement options, gym membership reimbursement, and continuing education/training opportunities.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties:


  • All library circulation services;
  • Routine reference;
  • Assisting library patrons in locating and using library resources;
  • Computer data entry;
  • Collecting fines and fees;
  • Registering patrons for cards;
  • Answering the phone and handling patron inquiries;
  • Shelving and maintaining library materials;
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, which may include days, evenings, and Saturdays.

Education, Experience and Skills:


Minimum Requirements:


  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Previous experience working in a public customer service environment required;
  • Must have internet experience and be computer literate with Microsoft Windows;
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Previous library work and knowledge of library computer software programs are preferred.

Skills:
Must have strong people skills, as position requires constant public contact; attention to detail skills; ability to prioritize work and work independently


Physical Conditions & Additional Information:


Ability to push book trucks and carts; ability to lift up to 30 pounds; ability to be able to stand for extended periods, stoop, bend and carry.
