Contract / Full-time position
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Upgrade electrical hardware in the company's product line and associated test and validation equipment
Apply expertise on subsystem and systems-level perspectives to design, develop, test, and validate new product designs, process improvements, and calibration hardware platforms
Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams of Mechanical, Embedded Software, and Test Engineers to relay electrical hardware perspective and integrate other engineering disciplines
Develop hardware interface level of embedded software in the C language, meet with customers and suppliers to communicate design requirements, and provide applications engineering of customer installations
Conduct failure analysis and analyze and document laboratory testing results and track data pertaining to systems and/or components
Design circuits to meet instrumentation grade requirements using SPICE simulation, lab testing, PCB design, and performance validation, and oversee manufacture and calibration of PCBs in production
Develop and improve infrastructure for sensor processing, testing, and calibration using CAN FD, ModBus, or UART
Hand assemble and modify electrical hardware ranging from surface mount microelectronics to server rack electrical enclosures
Write software in a variety of languages (LabView, Python, C) to support test and development infrastructure or new driver initial proofs of concept
Travel to client sites around the world to monitor system installation and provide field support at dyno tests, track tests, and races as required
Required skills
Possesses a strong and intuitive grasp of analog, mixed-signal, and signal-processing fundamentals.
Demonstrates a robust understanding of analog filtering, digital filtering, electromagnetics, and control systems.
Capable of quickly and accurately performing hand-written circuit analysis.
Knowledgeable about typical circuit design issues and component non-idealities.
Familiar with systems modeling tools such as SPICE and Matlab.
Experienced in the complete hardware development life cycle, including requirement definition, design, development, integration, testing, and support.
Skilled in schematic capture and PCB design using Altium.
Proficient in capturing and interpreting electrical hardware documentation, such as wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and wiring tables.
Able to multitask and reprioritize work in response to external factors.
Understands design constraints in size-limited and harsh environments.
Knowledgeable about peripheral components, including EEPROM and serial transceivers.
Possesses strong problem-solving, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills.
Communicates effectively with team members from various disciplines, including non-engineers.
Thrives in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Experience using 3D CAD software (e.g. Solidworks) is beneficial but not required.
Proficiency in writing and thoroughly debugging C code is helpful but not required.
Preferred qualification is a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, but exceptional candidates with a Bachelor's degree will be seriously considered.
Professional engineering experience of 2-4 years is preferred.Pay for this position is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
