    About the Job


    The GM of Horticulture will oversee agronomy and extension efforts for Connected and Alien Labs production in Florida, as well as emerging markets on the East Coast.

    The ideal candidate will have a passion for growing plants, helping people, and solving problems - you will apply your knowledge in the field of plant development, production, cultivation and application of technology.

    This role will be the direct point of contact for site General Managers, focusing on continuous improvements to cultivation facilities and processes, troubleshooting issues as they arise and following the process through to end solutions, as well as implementing and developing SOPs and driving positive change in the cultivation department.

    Leads key processes to ensure efficient flow of propagation, production and world class post-harvest processing. A successful candidate will be organized, technical, personable and an excellent communicator.

    This position is based in Florida, with frequent travel to California initially and expansion markets as we increase our footprint in the Eastern US cannabis markets.

    What You Will Do

    Regularly visit indoor cultivation team across all propagation, cultivation, harvest, drying, curing, and trimming processes to ensure consistent practices and identify opportunities for improvement
    Make regular rotational visits to follow up with trends and recommendations at all sites in purview
    Document travel visits and recommendations with high visibility
    Organize workflow and manage cultivation teams and processes ensuring work quality
    Manage execution and help oversee implementation of SOPs for all plant maintenance, fertigation programs, IPM, etc.
    Scout and assess for any pest or physiological issues occurring in visited sites
    Assess dry and cure practices and overall quality at each site in purview
    Implement and execute flower QC protocols, raise and correct any issues with QC
    Maintain strong ties to R&D, and execute extension and implementation of new technology as it is developed
    Partner with Operations group at each facility to ensure good hand off of biomass at every stage
    Remain up to date with emerging technologies and knowledge emerging in cannabis horticulture
    Regularly check digital monitoring and sensor output data for all sites
    Ensure all practices and activities are compliant, and manage harvest and product transfer
    Other duties as assigned
    What We Are Looking For

    Minimum age of 21 years or older and pass a criminal background check

    Bachelor's degree required in Agronomy, Plant Science, or related field with a minimum of 7 years experience OR Master's degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, or related field with a minimum of 5 years experience.

    Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% of time, ability to attain and maintain a passport highly desired.
    Cannabis experience not required, but other relevant agricultural or plant knowledge is required.
    Expertise in indoor cultivation and with automated climate control indoor systems.
    Proven project management skills and experience managing complex deadlines.
    Advanced knowledge in plant physiology, hydroponic techniques, and cultivation principles required.
    Ability to operate within a tightly controlled track and trace environment.
    Expert level knowledge of all growing mediums, nutrient regimens, cultivation methodologies, environmental requirements and cultivation techniques.
    Have a basic understanding of cannabis laws, rules and regulations set forth by the state.
    Experience managing teams, hiring, and employee corrective action.
    Must understand and implement the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company and the cultivation department.
    Adhere to company mission statement, values, while maintaining high ethical standards and professionalism.
    Must work well with others and ability to adapt quickly to changes in policy, procedure, methods and technique.
    Use of independent judgment regarding product processing, keeping quality, projections and goals in mind.

    Compensation Description (annually):

    The salary range for this position in the selected city is $120, $170,000.00 annually.

    Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.

    Base pay is one part of the total compensation package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for variable compensation or additional incentives.

    Physical Requirements/Work Environment

    Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols
    Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., with or without assistance
    Ability to climb, push, pull, stoop, grasp, walk, sit, stand, bend and reach for the duration of shift
    Requires manual dexterity to operate job related equipment
    Requires normal hearing range
    Must not be allergic to or have a fear of insects.
