    Tax Intern

    Location: Ann Arbor, MI - Onsite corporate office environment

    Employment Type: Internship/Temporary, Open to Full or Part-Time

    Hours: Weekday Business Hours

    Duration: Approximately 2-4 Months

    Benefits: Not Applicable

    Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

    Job Summary:

    Avfuel, a privately held, industry-leading aviation company located in Ann Arbor, seeks a tax intern for a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for tax return preparation, data analysis, and documentation surrounding applicable taxes on a global basis.

    Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the preparation of monthly fuel and sales tax returns
    • Analyzing data to determine reasonableness
    • Prepare month-end GL account reconciliations and necessary journal entries for multiple tax related accounts and numerous taxes/fees
    • Prepare responses to tax authority inquiries
    • Performing research with respect to tax notices and responses as necessary
    • Support the indirect tax audit function with data compilation to support audit responses and requests for information
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Pursuing Accounting or Tax related degree with rising junior status in the fall
    • Advanced excel skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate with team members
    • Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects and priorities
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to provide exceptional customer service
    • Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies
    • Analytical problem solving skills
    • Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic
