Job Summary and Qualifications:
What you will do in this role:
- As a registered nurse in the CVICU you will provide therapeutic care of seriously and critically ill patients for a variety of heart diseases and conditions, including resuscitation.
- You will provide care to immediate postop coronary artery bypass patients, valve repair/ replacements, and patients following MAZE procedures, and participate in patient/family education.
- Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, cardiac specialists and patient care staff, you will administer prescribed medications and monitor vital signs in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the facility.
- During every shift you will monitor, record and communicate patient conditions utilizing our computerized documentation systems.
- When dealing with patients, visitors, coworkers and other customer, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness and much more.
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
- 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- 1 year of critical care (ICU) nursing experience preferred.
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
