Responsibilities
The Endoscopy Technician I assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physicians in Endoscopy.
The technician is responsible for the care, handling, and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s).
This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span, appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs, and be able to communicate data reflective of the patient's status.
During the selection process you will participate in a virtual (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience.During the virtual interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding.
You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question — Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording.
The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps as appropriate.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Familiarity with the digestive tract and respiratory disease processes.
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Minimal typing and basic computer skills.
- Medical background and experience as a Medical Assistant or GI Technical Specialist (GTS) preferred.
- Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
