_Join our StaRN New Graduate Nurse Residency Program _


The HCA Nurse Residency Program will provide education, support and guidance to new graduate nurses as they begin their careers in HCA Healthcare hospitals.

It is a year-long, extensive clinical orientation and professional development curriculum for new graduate nurses that culminates in an evidence-based capstone project.

The StaRN Program is designed to provide graduate nurses with the tools necessary to succeed in today's hospital environment.

StaRN will assist the graduate nurse with the transition out of the classroom setting onto the unit by providing the following training:


  • Didactic training: introduces nurses to core curriculum and hospital initiatives in a classroom setting
  • Simulation training: reinforces nursing skills learned in a didactic setting
  • Hands on training: clinical preceptorship training with a facility preceptor in the nursing unit

Certifications achieved:


  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) Dysrhythmia Interpretation
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
  • Plus, other track related certifications as applicable to specialty
  • Such as PALS, TNCC, NRP, to name a few

Schedule:


The schedule during the first portion of the StaRN is Monday through Friday, 8-hours a day, 40 hours a week.

The preceptorship portion of the program consists of three 12-hour shifts at the hospital.
Attendance is mandatory for the entire program.


HCA Nurse Residency (remaining 9 months):

  • Paired with a trained mentor for integration and socialization into the culture of professional nursing
  • Monthly resident seminars following a core curriculum for professional development
  • Completion of an evidencebased poster presentation

_What qualifications you will need:_

  • Recent (under 1 year) graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment.

_Facility Description_
HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital is a 380-bed acute-care hospital. Offering a full range of services. We are home to the most experienced Heart Institute on the Treasure Coast. Lawnwood Hospital provides interventional and therapeutic care, including open-heart surgery. Other hospital services include labor/delivery, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, nuclear medicine, adult and pediatric emergency services, and diagnostic services. We also offer inpatient, and outpatient surgical services.

Lawnwood Hospital is a designated Certified Primary Stroke Center. The Physical Rehabilitation Center is CARF accredited. We are a Level II Trauma Center. We are verified by the American College of Surgeons. We offer a freestanding ER in Vero Beach. We provide emergency treatment for adults and children.
