    Join UChicago Medicine, as a Staff Nurse on the Cardiovascular Telemetry Unit.

    A staff nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed.

    Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided.

    The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.


    In this role as a Staff Nurse you will deliver patient centered care to acutely ill patients that is outcome driven.

    You will utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation as you will prescribe, delegate and coordinate nursing care.

    You will maintain ANA standards of professional nursing practice, comply with policies/procedures and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

    The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.


    The Cardiovascular/Thoracic/Heart/Lung Transplant unit (4W) is an adult inpatient unit that services pre/post-surgical patients with various medical conditions in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team.

    4W is a 30-bed telemetry unit that is fully operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    Required Qualifications


    • Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
    • Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred.
    • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
    • Current Illinois RN license
    • BLS (American Heart Association)
    Preferred Qualifications


    • 1 year of Nursing Experience
    • LVAD Experience
    • ACLS
    • Specialty Certification
    • RN experience in a Level 1 T
