Description

PROGRAM AND EVENT ADMINISTRATOR, _Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences_
_ __(EAPS)_, to increase awareness of departmental research opportunities within MIT; and create and implement outward-facing programs to engage alumni and the public, cultivate philanthropic interest, and support recruitment of faculty and students. Will help establish and maintain a twelve-month strategic calendar of department-wide events and outreach programs in concert with department headquarters staff; act as central point of contact and project manager for all programs and events; collaborate on planning and executing external engagement events (e.g., headline lecture events and symposia) for alumni, donors, and general audiences; collaborate on planning and executing student recruitment events (e.g., open houses, tours, career fairs, etc.); identify local and regional public and K-12 outreach opportunities and coordinate student, researcher, and faculty participation; support existing student-led efforts like LINK-12 and TIDE; act as the main point of contact and coordinator for MIT community programs (e.g., MIT Museum, Cambridge Science Festival, and co-hosted events with other units); manage all aspects of internal community-building and external event production; and perform other duties as directed.


Job Requirements:


  • REQUIRED_:_ _bachelor's degree; five years' event/project management experience in a matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders; excellent oral and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; comfort coordinating numerous timesensitive projects; and commitment to developing content with gender, class, geographic, ethnic, religious, and political diversity. Must be able to develop clear goals, timelines, and priorities; engage with highlevel speakers and their staff; take initiative and work independently; and set and meet deadlines within the context of a larger team.
