About the Job:


Serving as part of the program leadership team, the Director of Housing provides leadership, direction and oversight of New Moms' housing program portfolio.

This full-time position supports the agency's vision, philosophy and values through the delivery of providing quality services that support best practice standards for services to families experiencing homelessness.

The Director of Housing will oversee the program management of our housing portfolio that currently includes a single site 40-unit transitional housing program, an 18-unit single site permanent supportive housing program, and post exit supports.

This position will champion all New Moms values including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in both strategic planning and performance.

This position is located at our main office in the Austin neighborhood and spends time at our Oak Park location every week.


Starting Salary:

$78,000 DOQ


Key Job Responsibilities:


Program Oversight:


  • Provides leadership and oversight to New Moms (NM) Housing department. Oversees all aspects of service delivery for the families living in 58 units of housing through best practice standards, including a housing first approach which is grounded in our NM Executive Skills Coaching model.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of a diverse team; Provides executive skillsinformed reflective supervision with direct reports and provide coaching to help staff grow as professionals and excel in their role
  • Support staff in providing mental health case management and/or crisis response to participants experiencing emotional distress or mental health symptoms
  • Provides coverage for staff who are absent or assigns to others when necessary
  • Support overall outcomes and impact by strengthening program managers and coaches' work by reviewing and analyzing data from digital coaching tools, including by not limited to New Moms' app, survey platforms, resource hubs, etc.
  • In consultation with the Director of Clinical Services, provides leadership and oversight to ensure team is incompliance with Medicaid Rule 140 and Table O including IM+CANS are completed and updated by all team members
  • Collaborates with the onsite Property Manager to provide seamless services that support resident's successful compliance with their lease agreements including eviction prevention services
  • Obtain IM+CANS certification within 60 days of employment; Must maintain IM+CANS certifications throughout employment
  • In consultation with the Chief Program Officer and Senior Director of Performance Management, oversees the implementation and tracks progress on programmatic plans, quality assurance activities, required reporting, and program outcomes
  • Accountable for all internal and external data management training, data entry, and compliance to ensure staff compliance with Agency and funder database requirements checking monthly for accuracy and completion
  • Accountable for all continuous quality improvement including biannual participant survey feedback loops
  • Serves as an active member of the leadership team, facilitates staff meetings, and provides professional development opportunities to team members
  • Develops formal and informal relationships with community service providers to enhance and expand program capacity and supports permanent housing at program exit including attending Continuum of Care meetings and other contractually obligated meetings
  • Participates in departments budget preparation and reviews; responsible for budget implementation and adherence
  • Supports Housing Program Manager with the management of the oncall schedule and acts as a backup oncall staff member as needed
  • Responsible for orientation and oversight of volunteers and interns involved within programming

Organizational Leadership:


  • Represents New Moms in a positive and constructive manner in all interactions with participants, staff, board, government officials, funders, and community partners
  • Upholds the New Moms' Executive Skills Coaching approach which is grounded in racial equity
  • Regularly participates in agency and program staff meetings, as well as professional group seminars or conferences to enhance professional knowledge and job skills
  • Committed to developing further as a leader by participating in the New Moms professional development model, demonstrating achievement in competencies defined by the agency
