Position Overview:
As an Enrichment Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and enrichment activities of students during after-school hours.
Working under the supervision of program coordinators, you will assist in implementing engaging programs, providing academic support, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Supervision and Assistance:
- Supervise students during afterschool hours, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
- Assist students with homework assignments and provide academic support as needed.
Activity Planning and Implementation:
- Collaborate with program coordinators to plan and implement educational and recreational activities.
- Lead or assist in organizing ageappropriate games, arts and crafts, and other extracurricular activities.
Behavior Management:
- Implement positive behavior management strategies to create a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
- Address behavioral issues promptly and communicate effectively with students, parents, and program staff.
Communication:
- Maintain open communication with parents and program coordinators regarding student progress and behavior.
- Provide regular feedback on student engagement and participation.
Resource Support:
- Assist in maintaining an organized and wellequipped learning environment.
- Prepare and distribute learning materials as directed by program coordinators.
Attendance Tracking:
- Keep accurate records of student attendance and participation in afterschool activities.
- Report any concerns regarding attendance or participation to program coordinators.
Emergency Procedures:
- Follow established procedures for handling emergencies and ensure the safety of students at all times.
- Participate in emergency drills and training as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or a related field is a plus.
- 48 completed college credits
- Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Basic knowledge of child development and effective classroom management techniques.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday. The specific schedule may vary based on program needs.
Schedule/Availability:
- Sessions will be held five days at a school site in Ontario Montclair School District, Monday-Friday schedule 11:30 AM 5:00 PM. Must be available for the entire shift.
