Duties:

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-07.

If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.


As a MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT, you will:

  • Develop and implement new systems or administrative processes to ensure effective, timely accomplishment of duties throughout the organization. Determine effectiveness of administrative processes and use considerable judgment in correcting inefficiencies.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, or narrative summaries for management or program analysis reports from material provided by higherlevel employees.
  • Suggest changes to operations or improvements within existing policies. Identify and refer serious problems or questions, requiring detailed analysis or extensive database modification, to the AO/FSS or appropriate management official.
  • Assist AO/FSS in developing financial plans, budget estimates, narrative and statistical reports and other reports requested by national and regional management staff.

Conditions of Employment:

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • The work is mostly sedentary; however, there is some walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting of objects/equipment.

Qualifications:

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service
.

Specialized experience for this position includes:


  • Establishing or maintaining office files;
    AND:
  • Using office computer program, such as Excel, Word, or PowerPoint; Google;

OR

EDUCATION:
You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: 4 years of study above high school from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, or university;

OR

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.


Note:

Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.

One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) _beyond the second year_ is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
