    About the job Manufacturing Engineer USALCO Baltimore Plant, LLC is a major unit within the manufacturing network of a leading provider of aluminum-based component products used in water treatment, pulp and paper manufacturing, the making of catalysts for oil refining, the housing market and other sectors.

    The right individual will have a can-do attitude, the ability to be part of a team while operating independently, and consistently performs to very high standards.


    JOB SUMMARY:

    The person in this role is responsible for continuously improving the production activities for the Baltimore Site, while assuring compliance is achieved in all company associated policies.

    The position requires a motivated, detail oriented, and results driven team player who:

    Incorporates safety and quality into every decision while performing day-to-day activitiesMaintains superior communications with Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, R&D, Transportation and outside vendors.

    Will actively seek out opportunities for process improvement and take responsibility for their implementation The employee in this position will be a positive-natured, task-oriented individual with operating and administrative experience.

    The person must possess excellent communication and people skills necessary to work with all departments at the site. The individual will be a creative and entrepreneurial thinker.


    ROLES AND RESPONSIBITIES:

    Meeting all safety requirements of job functions being performed, and ensuring contractors under your supervision follow all OSHA safety standards.

    Working closely with site management team and employees to determine their needs to prioritize and improve processes opportunities within the site.

    Using a continuous improvement mindset to help increase safety, quality, profitability, efficiency and productivity through technology, personnel training and process improvement.

    Perform project engineering and management duties for capital projects engaged to meet USALCO goals and objectives.

    Duties include but are not limited to the following:

    developing project schedule, project budget, scope of work, AFE Request, evaluating potential contractors, reviewing bid documents, overseeing general contractors, designing new equipment and fixtures, designing material flow and storage capacities, installing equipment, maintaining cost targets, validating equipment, training associates and developing preventive maintenance schedulesMust be able to work overtime, provide physical labor and work changing shifts as required to meet business requirements.

    Perform other duties as assigned in support of business goals and objectives.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSRequires organizational and planning skills Must be dependable, flexible and able to respond on short notice to satisfy requirements of customers.

    Requires good interpersonal and communication skills.

    Strong Analytical and Mathematical aptitude Well writtenEDUCATION:
    A BS Degree in Manufacturing, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, preferredExperience with LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma, preferred


    EXPERIENCE:
    Manufacturing, Chemical, Pharmaceutical or Food manufacturing environment, preferred3 to 10 years of experienceNSF and ISO processes with procedure and audit experienceAbility to effectively work with Microsoft Office Applications at a high-level proficiencyPreferred Software Experience - Maintain X &


    ROSSESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The Ability to:
    Routinely lift 50 to 75 lbs.

    throughout the shiftRoutinely stand 60 to 70% of shiftRoutinely traverse the ~20-acre site to various buildingsRoutinely have to traverse ship ladders, catwalks and close quartersWork at elevated platforms as high as 150 without hesitation or fearWork inside confined spaces, as neededUSALCO is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
